Every Second Counts: Redesigning Crash Carts to Save Lives in Cardiac Arrests

Abbas Shaaban is the Director of Nursing at Bellevue Medical Center in Lebanon, with more than 15 years of experience in nursing leadership, critical care, healthcare management, education, and professional development. He previously served as an instructor at the Lebanese American University and, for more than 10 years, as Coordinator of the Bellevue International Training Center, as well as a BLS and ACLS instructor.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, in addition to a Diploma in Nursing Administration from the American University of Beirut.

Throughout his career, Abbas has held several clinical and leadership positions, with a strong focus on nursing excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, staff development, and healthcare accreditation. He has also been actively involved in American Heart Association programs, resuscitation education, Joint Commission International accreditation, and Planetree accreditation.

His professional interests include nursing leadership, workforce development, quality and patient safety, and the advancement of patient-centered nursing practice. Through his participation in regional and international scientific activities, he is committed to representing Lebanon’s nursing experience, sharing professional knowledge, and contributing to the advancement of nursing practice across the region.
