Dr. Umar A. Khan, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Critical Care Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Hospital Care Institute and an Associate Professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and has served as the Medical Director of Cardio-Thoracic Critical Care. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Khan was working as a Staff Intensivist in the Johns Hopkins Health System. Before that, Dr. Khan was on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and as an Associate Chief for Quality and Patient Safety in the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Khan received his medical degree from the Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Boston followed by a Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. He completed further fellowships in Echocardiography at the Boston University-West Roxbury VA Medical Center, Boston and Cardiac Critical Care at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. Dr. Khan also completed additional training in Quality and Patient Safety at the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute, Baltimore. Dr. Khan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Echocardiography
Dr. Khan’s research interests include Critical Care Ultrasonography and Mechanical Circulatory Support. His research work has been presented at several meetings and published in peer reviewed journals.
