Dr. Shamaila Shamim is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, with over a decade of international experience across the UK, Pakistan, Bermuda, and the UAE. She provides frontline emergency care, supervise junior doctors and nurses, and lead quality improvement projects and departmental teaching initiatives.
Previously, Dr. Shamim served as Consultant Emergency Physician at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Bermuda, where she led sepsis care, cardiac arrest teams, trauma and pediatric emergencies, and contributed to the island’s only stroke center. Prior to that, she was Associate Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham, UK, one of the largest NHS teaching trusts, where she played a key role in clinical supervision, pathway development, and mortality and morbidity reviews.
Dr. Shamim is an experienced educator, GMC-recognized Clinical and Educational Supervisor, European Trauma Course Instructor, and former PLAB 2 Examiner. She remains actively involved in research, audit, and quality improvement, with multiple projects in sepsis, pediatric care, and emergency pathways.
Passionate about teamwork, governance, and advancing emergency medicine, Dr. Shamim strives to deliver high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered care while mentoring the next generation of clinicians. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, history, and exploring different cultures.
