Dr. Pascal Cassan serves on the Board of the French Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). He is an emergency physician based in Paris.
He is an active member of the French Society of Emergency Medicine and the French Society of Disaster Medicine. Internationally, Dr Cassan is an emeritus member of the ILCOR First Aid Task Force and a member of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) First Aid Task Force. He is also a Fellow of the ERC.
Dr Cassan has been involved in the development of the ILCOR Consensus on Science and Treatment Recommendations and the ERC Guidelines in 2010, 2015, and 2020. He has led the development of the IFRC Guidelines on First Aid, Resuscitation and Education in 2011, 2016, 2021, and the upcoming 2025 edition.
A committed volunteer, Dr Cassan has been a member of the French Red Cross since 1977. He has served as the National Medical Advisor since 1990 and currently heads the IFRC Global First Aid Reference Centre as its Medical Director.
