Dr. Firasat Khan

Dr. Firasat Khan stands as a distinguished figure in the field of emergency medicine, currently leading the Emergency Services at Emirates Health Services in the UAE. With an extensive and diverse educational background that includes MBBS from Dow Medical College, Karachi, MBA from the University of Hawaii, European master in Disaster Medicine from Italy, and MD in Family Medicine from University of Colombo, Dr. Khan brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. His postgraduate qualifications include MRCSED from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and FRCEM from the UK.

Dr. Khan’s career is marked by numerous leadership positions and significant contributions to emergency medicine. As the Chairman of various committees within Emirates Health Services, such as the Code Blue Committee, Rapid Response and Crash Cart Committee, and Trauma Committee, he has implemented critical policy changes and conducted numerous drills to enhance patient outcomes and improve operational efficiency. His efforts have led to zero mortality and morbidity rates in the ER, an unprecedented achievement in the history of EHS. He has also played a pivotal role in the establishment of stroke pathways and psychiatric patient management protocols at Fujairah Hospital, reflecting his commitment to continuous improvement and patient care excellence. Dr. Khan’s international experience includes consultant positions in the UK at Lancashire Teaching Hospital, Royal Albert Hospital Wigan, and several others, where he was instrumental in managing high patient volumes and implementing quality improvement projects.

Dr. Khan is an esteemed member of multiple professional bodies, including the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. His contributions to medical education are notable, serving as an instructor for ATLS, PHTLS, and various life support courses. He is also a senior examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, London, and has been recognized for his excellence with nominations and awards at international health conferences.
